Vertical Foundation Walls

Installation & Design Considerations

  • FOAMULAR® is installed, from the top of the footing upwards, directly over the exterior of concrete, block or wood foundations.
  • Insulation may be attached with adhesives or mechanical fasteners.
  • In applications utilizing waterproofing or damp proofing, the insulation may be held in place by the nearly fully cured, “slightly tacky” membrane surface.
  • In areas with potentially “heavy termite infestation” check building codes regarding below grade use of foam insulation. Refer to Design Considerations for additional details.
  • The need for and placement of vapor retarders should be determined by the building designer.
  • Backfill as soon as possible. FOAMULAR® must be in full contact with foundation. Protect joint from backfill entry.
  • Insulation installed above grade must be covered. Typical materials include: masonry veneer, cementitious coatings, siding, etc.
  • Slope surrounding grade / concrete slabs away from foundation.
