Vertical Foundation Walls
Installation & Design Considerations
FOAMULAR® is installed, from the top of the footing upwards, directly over the exterior of concrete, block or wood foundations.
Insulation may be attached with adhesives or mechanical fasteners.
In applications utilizing waterproofing or damp proofing, the insulation may be held in place by the nearly fully cured, “slightly tacky” membrane surface.
In areas with potentially “heavy termite infestation” check building codes regarding below grade use of foam insulation. Refer to
Design Considerations
for additional details.
The need for and placement of vapor retarders should be determined by the building designer.
Backfill as soon as possible. FOAMULAR® must be in full contact with foundation. Protect joint from backfill entry.
Insulation installed above grade must be covered. Typical materials include: masonry veneer, cementitious coatings, siding, etc.
Slope surrounding grade / concrete slabs away from foundation.
