Wood Stud Walls

Installation & Design Considerations

  • Maximum wood stud spacing 24” o.c., 16” o.c. for fire resistance rated assemblies.
  • Provide adequate lateral bracing for structural framing. FOAMULAR® insulation is not a structural material.
  • Fit insulation board joints tightly and tape with Owens Corning BILD-R-TAPE®.
  • Install siding materials according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Shingle or vertical siding applications; attach horizontal wood nailing strips through insulation to studs. Nail shingles or siding to strips.
  • Provide adequate flashings and caulk movement joints.
  • The need for and placement of vapor retarders should be determined by the building designer.
  • Architect must supply detailed drawings to meet project and building code requirements.
