Installation & Design Considerations
DURAPINK® can not be applied over an existing roof with more than 3” thick insulation or R-value greater than R-17.
DURAPINK® insulation is mechanically fastened directly over the existing roof. Apply 1 layer of DURAPINK® only. For fastening pattern see Owens Corning specifications.
Roof membrane is applied directly over DURAPINK® insulation using mechanical fasteners specified by the membrane manufacturer.
Chemically incompatible membranes, such as PVC, require a slip sheet or DURAPINK® Plus between the insulation and membrane.
DURAPINK® may be installed over coal tar pitch which is at least 10 years old and has not been resaturated in the last 4 years.
Newer coal tar pitch requires applying an impervious separator between the coal tar and DURAPINK®.
DURAPINK® is not for use in total tear-off or new construction. DURAPINK® is also not a cover board and cannot be used directly over new or existing insulation.
When dark color membranes are installed over DURAPINK® insulation, normal thermal expansion will occur. See product properties.
Existing vapor retarders must be perforated. See ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals for details.
DURAPINK® must be installed in compliance with Owens Corning Guide Specifications. Contact Owens Corning for details.
See Underwriters Laboratories or Factory Mutual listings for fire rating details.
